With over 20 years of dynamic training experience, I bring passion, creativity, and a positive attitude to every project.  As a family man and active community member, I'm driven to give back through impactful work.


My career has spanned diverse and exciting industries – from leading outdoor programs to empowering nonprofits and communities through impactful learning initiatives.  I believe learning should be fun and engaging, while also driving real results.


My enthusiasm and sense of humor help ensure every training program I lead is a positive experience for learners.

I believe that effective learning experiences begin with a deep understanding of the learner, the content, and the desired outcomes.

My process starts with a thorough needs analysis and learner research to identify specific challenges and opportunities. I then leverage my expertise in instructional design models, andragogy and learning technologies to develop engaging and interactive learning solutions. I'm passionate about incorporating innovative approaches like gamification, micro-learning, and scenario-based learning to maximise learner engagement and knowledge retention.

I'm driven by a deep desire to make a positive impact on the learning world and constantly seek opportunities to collaborate with organisations that share this vision.

I'm particularly interested in exploring the potential of emerging technologies like Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR), and Mixed Reality (MR) to create truly immersive and engaging learning. I believe these technologies can revolutionise how we learn, offering personalised and interactive pathways to knowledge. I'm also fascinated by the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in education, particularly its potential for personalised learning, adaptive assessments, and intelligent tutoring systems.


Furthermore, I'm passionate about fostering open access to learning and ensuring educational resources are available to everyone, regardless of background or circumstance. I believe knowledge should be a democratising force, and I'm committed to creating learning experiences that are accessible and inclusive. This includes designing with accessibility in mind from the outset, adhering to WCAG guidelines, and considering the diverse needs of all learners.

Understand & Strategise

I begin by deeply understanding your needs and goals. This involves:


  • Collaboratively defining the learning challenge and desired outcomes.


  • Conducting thorough needs assessments, including learner analysis, task analysis, and content audits.


  • Developing a tailored learning strategy that aligns with your business objectives and target audience.  This includes defining the overall approach, identifying key performance indicators (KPIs), and recommending appropriate learning technologies.

Design & Blueprint

In this phase, I design the complete learning experience, focusing on engagement and effectiveness:


  • Defining clear learning objectives and measurable outcomes.


  • Selecting appropriate instructional strategies and learning activities.


  • Developing storyboards, wireframes, and prototypes to visualise the learning journey.


  • Designing engaging and accessible learning content, including microlearning modules, interactive videos, simulations, and more.  This also includes any necessary graphic and web design elements.

Build & Develop

This stage is where the learning experience comes to life:


  • Creating and developing all learning content, including text, graphics, audio, and video.


  • Setting up and configuring the LMS (if applicable), including course structure, user management, and learning paths.


  • Integrating any necessary learning technologies or tools.


  • Ensuring all content is accessible and adheres to accessibility guidelines (WCAG)

Launch & Engage

This phase focuses on deploying the learning experience and supporting learners:


  • Launching the learning program and making it available to learners.


  • Providing learner support and facilitating engagement.


  • Monitoring learner progress and gathering feedback.


  • Managing any necessary communications and announcements

Measure & Refine

Evaluation is crucial for continuous improvement:


  • Collecting data on learner performance, engagement, and satisfaction.


  • Analysing the data to assess the effectiveness of the learning program.


  • Making data-driven recommendations for improvement and refinement.


  • Iterating on the design and content based on feedback and data analysis. This may include updates to the LMS configuration, content revisions, or changes to the overall learning strategy.
